Advantages and disadvantages of vortex pump

Advantages of vortex pump:

1. The vast majority of vortex pumps have self-priming working capacity, or can rely on simple equipment to complete self-priming

2. The head characteristic curve of the vortex pump is special, and the change of its head has less impact on the total flow rate than that of the centrifugal pump, so it is not too sensitive to the pressure change of the external environment

3. The vortex pump has a simple structure and a higher head. Under the same specifications and speed, its head is 3 to 9 times that of the centrifugal pump. Compared with the positive displacement pump with the same head, its specifications are smaller and its structure is more simple

4. Most vortex pumps can be mixed with steam and liquid, which is very useful for transporting some easily volatilized liquids with gas and high-temperature liquids with high vaporization pressure

5. The structure of the vortex pump is simple, forging and production processing are easy to complete, and some parts of the vortex pump can be completed using non-metallic materials

Disadvantages of vortex pump:

1. The cavitation characteristics of vortex pump are relatively weak

2. Vortex pump can not be used to transport viscous liquid, the greater the viscosity of the medium transported, the lower the pump head and efficiency

3. The medium transported by the vortex pump is limited to pure liquid. When there are solid particles in the liquid, the radial or axial void will be expanded due to wear, thereby reducing the characteristics of the pump, or causing the vortex pump to work normally.
